Studio For Oriental Dance

The Navel Academy offers a full range of dance education and entertainment services, including lessons for dancers of all ages and skill levels, seminars, choreography, and professional shows for all occasions. The Navel Academy is also home to the largest student body of belly dancers in the Metro-Detroit area, with the only instructor in the state who is certified by the National Association for Teacher Certification in Middle Eastern Dance.

Text Box: The best time to start a class is always on the first day of a new session. Newcomers may also join a class in progress any time throughout the year, with the understanding that they will have some catching up to do. Currently, there is only one class section still running through the end of the year, at HFCC in Dearborn. There is still limited space available there. Click HERE for complete class information. =================================================== THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW about Navel Academy classes … > Come prepared to have FUN, but be willing to put some effort into it. > No specific attire or shoes are required; simply dress comfortable. > The minimum age for participation is 12 years old; there is no maximum. > Classes which meet from September through December focus on technique. > Classes which meet from January through June learn short routines. > Children and other adult observers are not permitted with you in the class. > Videotaping is prohibited, but digital voice recorders are acceptable. > Notes are not provided by the instructor, but you may take your own.

After nearly 20 years of total commitment to the dance, Cedena has taken some time off to develop her professional career, and recently completed one of three certification programs that she has been pursuing. Plans for the new year are to expand the class schedule, and another new location in WEST BLOOMFIELD has been added. Classes resume in late January, but details are still being finalized. There are many ways to experience your own essence of being, and to express and share your personal gifts and energy with the world. Dance is just one of them, but the sky’s the limit. This fall, Cedena introduced astrology classes in the metro-Detroit area as a path to higher understanding of the unique individualism from which all self expression emerges — the total self and its fullest potential.
